Question: My mdi reads the following: a moderate left para central disc protrusion indenting the left central aspect of the spinal cord with mild to moderate central canal narrowing with no cord edema and minimal left neural foramina narrowing. Also c4-5 a small central to right para central disc extrusion extrusion extending inferiorly Mild central canal narrowing and mild bilateral neural foramina narrowing. At c3-4 a small right para central disc protrusion with minimal central canal narrowing. Small central disc herniation seen at t4-5 . and straightening of the cervical lordosis which may be related to positioning or spasm I cannot get an appointment with my doctor for a week. Can you explain to me what this means and can I do physical therapy instead of surgery? Also I want to make sure this is not life threatening. I have no idea what I am reading

Thank you. This is not life threatening in any way?

Brief Answer:
Surgery can wait, try physio plus conventional therapies first.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. These MRI findings are suggestive of mild to moderate compressive disc disease in neck vertebral bones and associated posture changes with it. I believe physiotherapy and conservative therapies can be given a try here and see for the results. if they don't show any improvement for at least six months therapy, then you can opt for surgery. RIght now surgery can wait and conservative measures can be given a shot.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.

Brief Answer:
No its not.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

No its not life threatening. With good expertise of neurosurgeons, the recovery rate is very high. main aim to get a pain relief. MAximum complications may lead to morbidity but not mortality and that too is very unlikely provided expertise of neurosurgeons.

I hope it helps.
