What Does My CT Scan Of Lumbar Spine Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Jan 2015
Question: Hi Doctor.
I had a doctor's appointment, and had a CT scan done again for my lumbar spine. The result says 'minimal disc bulges are present at the L4-5 and L5-S1 levels with perhaps facet athropathy at the L4-5 and L5-S1 level as well.'
Impression: minimal degenerative changes of the lower lumbar spine for this patient's age with no obvious or large disc hernia tigon by CT.
Doctor, I still have the dull pain at my right upper side of my buttock, and right lower abdomen and towards the right scrotum.,but the frequency reduced.very rarely the same symptom on the left side too. drinking lot of water.jogging average 30 mnts 4 days a week.
Thanks,
XXXX.

Brief Answer:
Get ultrasound abdomen done

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. The symptoms described, are suggestive of common urinary tract involvement by infection/stone or any pathology of male genital system.Hence ultrasound is highly recommended along with routine urine test.
Do you have burning sensation and pain while passing urine?
Meanwhile you may do regular back muscle strengthening exercises along with Ibuprofen and muscle relaxant drug thiocolchicoside.Get it prescribed from your local doctor.
Do you have numbness and tingling sensation in legs?
The described CT changes have no value until and unless they are associated with radiating pain in legs right upto foot (sciatica ).
Hope this helps and I shall be glad to answer any further query .
Take care

Doctor,
My mail was in continuation with my previous question . I have already done a CT scan with and without contrast of the abdomen. And it said abdomen is clear with moderate diffused fatty liver, and moderate constipation. But I never felt like having constipation.
My problem started around 10 months back as a light tingling at the back . Right side almost the middle.A pulsating pain on the thigh. Then I had a feeling of slight pressure / dull pain near the scrotum.later I started having dull pain at the top side of my right buttocks with slight pain on my right lower abdomen which goes down to the right scrotum..now recently I started having the same symptom ( not that frequent ) on the left side too. I have very light numbness on the right buttocks and towards the right back and under the thigh towards scrotum.
6 months back when I was in XXXXXXX I had an ultrasound scan of the abdomen which showed 4mm kidney stone on both kidneys. I started drinking lot of water ,average 3 ltrs every day. I did not feel any burning sensation during urination.
The Andominal CT scan did not show any evidence of stone. My urine work and blood work all was good.
Now when ever I bend down I feel a slight electric shock like pain on the right side of my pelvis towards the thigh( like some thing is stretching tightly)
Thank you.
Regards,
XXXX

As follows

Detailed Answer:
Hello
It's good to see you
I have gone through your reply carefully and the dull ache pain at back could be due to small kidney stones. These stone either pass out of their own with urine or remain dormant. As far as CT abdomen is concerned, the described fatty liver changes are common in person who take alcohol,do you take alcohol and smoke?
I would like to treat you with -Regular back strengthening exercises, drug pregablin along with thiocolchicoside (muscle relaxant drug) and ibuprofen.Get them prescribed from your local doctor .
Getting examined for private parts (scrotum) is recommended.
Hope this helps.
Take care
