What Does Anxiety, Sweats And Severe Insomnia After Accident Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 26 May 2015
Question: I had a black out experience last week in a rollover accident with my car being deemed a total loss. I started a trial pack of savella along with 120 msg cymbalta (had been on cymbalta for a while with not much difference) a week ago. Since then I have been experiencing extreme agitation, anxiety, drenching sweats, severe insomnia. Since hospitalization, I was reduced to 60 mgs cymbalta along with continuing savella. All for FMS. Could this have contributed to the black out that I had. Luckily, I was not hurt of anyone else hurt but I did total my car along with a parked car that I hit. Your opinion please? Thank you. P.S. I do think that the savella is mildly helping the FMS though maybe not a high enough dose yet but can't tolerate the side effect symptoms.

Brief Answer:
you are experiencing savella side effects

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I have been through your question and understand your concern.

While Savella has its main indication on FMS, it has many side effects. some of its side effecys include mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, impulsiveness, irritableness, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperactivity (mentally or physically), depression, or thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself.

Several papers also report fainting as an important side effect.

Basically in these circumstances I do not recommend taking savella anymore, because its side effects overwieight its benefit.

Clearly cymbalta as well can be responsable for this side effects, but these are more characteristic to savella.

I would recommend to withdraw taking savella and continue cymbalta.

Please let me know for further queries.

I am 6 1/2 yrs out from breast cancer with double mastectomy with reconstruction I am her 2 neu 3+ ER + PR -. I had 2 yrs of chemo of carboplatin, taxotere, herceptin. I also had a hysterectomy following 1st round of chemo. In January 2015, I had double blood clots to both lungs on xeralto recently d/c 1 month ago. For 2 years I fought excruciating all over body pain thought due to Femara but went off trial of that drug and no change in symptoms so finally diagnosed with FMS. I just feel like there is no hope for relief of the FMS. I know that there is no cure but isn't there anything out there for any kind of help. I am so fatigued and wiped out. I walk a lot and try to get rest but I do have a life to live. HELP?!?!?

Brief Answer:
brain ct scan

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I am sorry to hear all these you have gone through.

In first place any loss of consciousness, should be further evaluated with a brain ct scan, due to your past medical history.

FMS as you might have been informed is a difficult situation, where much is hypothetical and little is really known on its etiology, thus a target treatment is difficult to be obtained.

Your side effects (beside the eventual loss of consciousness) should be carefully analysed. I believe savella is the main responsable for this, that is why you should stop taking it.

You should be patient. The most efficient treatment of FMS might take time, but it is a lifetime treatment.

Wish you the best health.
