Question: I have a large bruise on the inside top of my left calf. There is a knot there as well, but no bruise over the knot. They bruise is very discolored and I do not remember hitting it anytime. I noticed it in the shower. I had a heart attack in Dec and am on Brilinta which does cause me to brusie easily. SHould I be worried?

Brief Answer:
You need to test your blood coagulation

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I would suggest you to get your blood coagulation test. As some time when a patient take blood thinning agents for long time then some time it leads to easy bruising and knot formation. I would recommend following tests.
1. Bleeding time
2. Coagulation time
3. Prothrombin time
If these tests are with in normal limit then you can safely take all your medicines. If any of these test is not normal then you need to change doses after discussing with your doctors.
For knot present on leg, I would suggest you to get ultrasound test to check if there is blood clot in your calf.
In my patients with this type of knot I suggest vitamin K injections and hot water fomentation.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any followup questions.
Thanks.
