Brief Answer:
Metabolic syndrome

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thanks for writing to hcm. Your thyroid function is normal. You are overweight with abnormal lipid levels as shown by high triglycerides and ldl and a low hdl. Your sugars are uncertain as the a1c you mentioned is not right. Please recheck and get back with the right value. Your waist is larger than normal. It all points to a cluster of risk factors called metabolic syndrome which can lead to cardiac diseases etc. The main thing you need is weight loss and exercise. Please visit a dietician and get a customised diet plan. You need to get involved in 45 min of aerobic activity daily. You should recheck your fasting lipids profile after three months. It would be prudent to start you on medications if your ten yr risk for heart disease is high. As for now lifestyle would be enough. If you are resistant to weight loss inspite of this medical or even surgical options can be considered. I will be glad to answer any more queries if you have any. Wishing you good health. Warm regards. Dr Praveen.

Brief Answer:
Pre diabetes

Detailed Answer:
Hello again. OK. Between 5.7 to 6.5 its considered pre diabetes. Please do a 75 gm glucose tolerance test. It will help us determine if you indeed have diabetes in which case you need to be started on medications for diabetes and cholesterol in addition to your lifestyle. The whole plan will change then. Would you please get back after the test? Until the test is done you need to eat normally and not go on a diet as going on a diet will affect the test outcome. Warm regards. Take care.
