Posted on Mon, 18 May 2015
Question: Hi Dr, me and my wife have been together for 5 years and have had a great sex life. however 2 months ago my wife XXXXXXX had bad bronchitis and went on an anti-biotic, and then got bad thrush. since then whenever we have sex, straight after I have cuts and burnt skin type lesions with minor blood. She has initial stinging sensation but then that goes for her and sex pretty much ok. I then cant have sex for 5 or so days until my penis recovers. Its getting very frustrating and I'm very down about it. Ive gone to doctor 3 times, first sample test revealed herpes 1 ???!! but Doctor said it definitely didn't look like herpes, then I undertook a second test with another Doctor, and she also said it didn't look like herpes, and test came up all clear, but I had used bacterial cream prior to second test. Julie's gyno recommended its just ecsma for me and didn't even conduct an examination on XXXXXXX and told her not to worry about it ???. Its really doing my head in. Any assistance or advice would be hugely appreciated. Kind regards, XXXXXXX & XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Likely due to transmission from partner.

Hi
Thank you for follow up query.

It appears that your partner had thrush due to treatment by antibiotics . It may be that she had white discharge or fungal infection in vagina too.Likely you might have acquired from her.

Please both take treatment for same.It is known for recurrence too.It keeps getting transmitted between two.
Check for diabetes in both.It can exacerbate or be the reason for recurrence.
