What Do Red Spots On The Chest, Back, Neck And Face Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Oct 2017
Question: My son is 11 and has light red spots on his chest, back, neck, and a little bit on his thighs and a little on the side of his face. He does not seem to have a fever or a cold. He went to the nurse today at school but only told her that he had itching on the back of his neck. She said they were just mosquito bites but they could not be because there are so many and he doesn't go out at night.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be a papular urticaria, upload pictures, please

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic,

I have gone through your complaints and these could be papular urticaria.
It is an insect bite hypersensitivity reaction in which a single bite can cause the eruption of multiple red spots on the body.

I would recommend you to please upload the pictures of the affected areas so that I can have a clearer picture of the condition and can guide you accordingly. You can simply upload/attach them to the reports section of this web page.

Awaiting...

Regards
Dr Asmeet

Brief Answer:
papular urticaria or allergic reaction, cortisone cream & antihistaminic

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photographs and there are few possibilities: either papular urticaria or an allergic reaction to something he has applied or worn on his body .
Papular urticaria is an insect bite hypersensitivity reaction.
It is an allergic reaction where a rash appears even after a single or few bites in susceptible individuals. It is not that the insect has bitten at multiple sites.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply topical steroid like cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily and give him antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 5 mg once daily at bedtime.
This should resolve in a week 's time.
