What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Nov 2015
Question: Hi Doctor ,

hope u r fine ! Thanks for assisting my previous concerns . i has my tests done for pft , urine and thyroid . i had gone to the doc for a non stop cough and mild wheez. while my tests were done, he had prescribed medicine for my cough which got me better with in a day . in the mean while my test results r out.

as u knw its normal for anyone to look into the normal range and refer it with the our test range and come into conclusions, i have been googleing enough stuff and getting panicked . some of the abnormal ranges that i noticed in my reports are wha iam mentioning here, i did get some medical help but my anxiety is not leaving me .

Heametalogy :

Total wbc :12110

ESR : 60 MIN : 30

-----------------------------------------

LIPID PROFILE: 221
HDL: 51
LDL:149

----------------------------------------

THYROID FUNCTION TEST

TOTAL T3: 162

TOTAL T4: 9.68

TSH: 5.84

i HAVENT BEEN TAKING ANY MEDICATION FOR thyroid till date cus i havent been detected of thyroid until today

URINE ANALYSIS

Now comes the most important one which freeks me to the core cuz i googled it and found somethings

cOLOR : rESULT SHOWS YELLOW WHILE refernce shows pale yellow
Appearance shows clear

Automated regeant strip:
everything shows negative and within nrmal limits except

Benzidine ( Blood) shows ++ positive and bioligical refernce shows negative :-((((

MICROSCOPY:

ePITHELIAL CELLS : 10-12
rbc: 5-6

Now i really need to know what is this indicate ? i have been very carefull with my water intake as 15 years back my scan report showed pelvic kidneys so doc had adviced me to take enough water . although the urologist said nothing to worry about cus i was born with pelvic kidneys.

I have googled after getting my resukts and it shows benzidine is relatedto bladder or pancreatic cancer and iam just upset to the core . it also said it s mainly for people who smoke and i dont smoke or drink ,

i met my doc and he asked me if i was in my period cycle as that wud have triggered blood stains in the urine. but i did my test on saturday 18th oct and i got my periods on 19th .

now i dont feeel like urinating frequently or now and then, thers no pain while urination, or anything. th only thing i have noticed is that when i take more stress to cough i tend to leave a little urine but inly while coughing.

i really need to understand whst happening !

Regards

Brief Answer:
Pelvic kidney can give rise to infections/hematuria

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I can certainly understand your concern.

I have gone through your query in detail.

You possibly seem to have mild derangement of Lipid profile and hematology picture. The elevated WBC count and ESR reflect inflammation in the lungs(could be allergic bronchitis).

The mildly elevated TSH could imply a subclinical hypothyroidism/mild hypothyroidism. This can cause altered lipid profile.

With regards to blood(3+) in urine(hematuria), a thorough evaluation is needed, considering your Pelvic Kidney.

I advise you to repeat the test with a 24-hour urine sample for complete analysis before proceeding to intensive tests.

The possibility of urine contamination with menstrual blood is quite unlikely.

The possibility of infection and stone formation rather than bladder cancer is high with an ectopic kidney(pelvic kidney).

Under such context, a renal ultrasound can help to rule out pressure changes like hydronephrosis, which can contribute to stress incontinence(urinary sensation on coughing)

Post your further queries if any,
Thank you.
