What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?
Question: 64 yr old male. Generally good health. No obvious symptoms. Location Southern California.
Routine labs showed very high Microalbumin/Creatinine ratio:
340 on 06/16/15, (eGFR = 85, BUN = 21)
250 on 07/02/15
202 on 07/14/15
186 on 07/28/15
CBC and blood culture show nothing.
Urine culture revealed 2 bugs, low colony counts, treated with Cipro.
Kidney & bladder ultrasound on 7/31/15 finds small unremarkable kidney cyst, nothing else.
Primary care physician is unconcerned, said no further tests needed and has no explanation.
Although it may be resolving, what are likely causes of the microalbuminuria considering all other labs were normal? Suggestions for further lab tests?

Thanks for the query
I understand your concern. The most common cause for microalbumin in urine is diabetes and the other differential being hypertension. However albuminiuria can also occur in the setting of a urinary tract infection and it can persist upto 6 to 8 weeks after successful treatment.
I recommend that you repeat the urine test after 6 weeks and also get a 24 hour urine protein and creatinine for exact quantification
