Brief Answer:
MRI findings suggest an inactive disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted the reports of MRIs of your son and also read the article in the link provided.

The abnormalities mentioned in the MRI are suggestive of an inactive disease and do not require any treatment. Also, the findings are unlikely to change in future, and hence, repeat MRI scans are not needed.

The most common causes of these MRI abnormalities include lack of oxygen or an infection at the time of birth or in early childhood.

We do not expect any significant problem in your child due to these MRI changes.

I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

thnx for d reply Dr. As you are saying that due to results of MRI you do not expect significant problems in child, but he is having all those issues which happens due to white matter demylination like weak eyesight, speech impairment, cognitive development. he wears specs, all milestones were delayed from birth n speech still very less, cognition not as per age. in 9 month ultrasound it was found that baby is not growing due to marginal cerebral artery flow and thus c- sec was done. plz suggest if this mushroom or anything else can help in regeneration of damaged white matter.

Brief Answer:
At this stage, no specific medicines would help.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back with more information.

What I meant is that the brain damage was done at the time of birth, and that is what we are seeing on the MRI. These MRI changes can not be made normal by any treatment. Also, it is unfortunate, but the child can not be made "normal". This is true for all children with cerebral palsy. Now, we can not give any medication or mushroom to make the brain normal.

What would help him is good physiotherapy, speech therapy and training. With all these treatments, he would improve, but is unlikely to become normal for his age.

Best wishes,

Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)

Brief Answer:
Vitamin D can cause harm

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

Generally, water-soluble vitamins such as B complex and vitamin C are safe, even if taken in high doses.

On the other hand, vitamin D is fat-soluble. If there is no deficiency of this vitamin, then, it may cause harm to liver and brain. If the level is low, then, it would not cause any harm.

Best wishes,
