default
Posted on Fri, 6 Feb 2015
Question: Greetings,
I have a soft spongy feeling swelling on the left side behind my ear to the base of my skull, sometimes tender to touch, sometimes it can turn very sore and tight intermitently, causing internal pain to the region affected and dizziness while the pain and tightness lasts, usually passes off quite soon when I rotate the area concerned. It has been present for some time and is always a cause of mild discomfort when not in tight phase.

Brief Answer:
Chances of Ear infection leading to lymph node swelling

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

I understand your concern. The spongy feeling could be due to a middle ear infection leading to pus formation in lymph node.It seems to be infected.

There are probable chances of it causing dysregulation of ear fluid which might be causing dizziness and internal pain. Please see an ENT and get evaluated for the same. You need to be treated with proper course of antibiotic for it to subside.

Hope this helps.Feel free to ask more.
