What Causes Weakness And Nausea A Few Hours After Fainting?
Question: I fainted last night at about 10 pm and at 5 this afternoon am still feeling weak and nauseous. Is this normal and will these nauseous feelings pass?

No I first fainted in October 2014. I am being monitored by my gp but because of public holidays can't get to see him until Thurs next week. I didn't expect to get a fainting episode after the first one - I thought the first was a one- off. My fainting episode happened just before going to bed. I felt very dizzy as I was sitting down so got myself to the floor and waited for this to pass. I went chalk white and sweated profusely. Felt very wobbly when the episode passed. Had a really bad nights sleep.
In answer to 2,3 -and 4 I have no history of any of these conditions.
I haven't had any diarrhoea but still feel nauseous and bloated. I do take fybogel to aid my digestive system.

If you would have presented to me as an outpatient with this medical history,I would have advised the following investigations considering the possibilities of autonomic dysfunction and atypical seizure episodes-
1)Electrocardiogram(EKG)
2)Blood pressure monitoring-with special emphasis on postural drop
3)Blood sugar-fasting and post prandial
4)Echocardiography
5)Autonomic function testing-tilt table test
If these investigations turn out to be normal,following investigations should be done-
1)Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) of Brain
2)Electroencephalogram(EEG):EEG is usually rewarding only if done in a time frame close to the episode.In your case,since the episodes are very infrequent,it will likely turn out to be negative.However,if done close to the episode,it may yield important information.
If the investigations from 1 to 5 are normal(which are meant to evaluate autonomic dysfunction),a trial of antiepileptic drugs may be started and observed if the episode still recurs.
Fybogel is fine to be taken for bowel movements along with adequate amount of water.Please take some pantoprazole-domperidone combination for now and I hope you will be fine soon.
Please mention if you have some significant drug history as some medicines are known to cause these type of episodes.
