Dear Doctor XXXXXXX
I have had type 2 Diobetis since I was 50 Yrs old.
I also hae a thyroid ailment for almost 20 years.
I get my blood tested here times a year. My Doc.
keeps telling me my results are perfect except
we had to lower the dosage for the Thyoid.
I now take Levothyroxine one 112 MCG daily.
I was takeing 175 lowered to 125 now at 112 MCG.
That is the only medication which had XXXXXXX changed.
My other Meds.
Metformin 1000 MG (2) daily
Glipizide 5MG (3) daily
Vytorin 10-20 MG (1) daily
Ramipril 10 MG (1) daily
Omeprazole DR 20 MG (1) daily
Niacin ER 500 MG (1) daily
Aspirin 325 (1) daily
I have been talekg these meds for 20years.

I was tested for croans last year. that is ok.
Stress? I have 5 adult children and 3 Grand kids that I worry over all the time
but they all seem ok.
However since you asked I spend many stressful hours thinking about my National Government. Especially my President and his associates.
They ruined the country that I love. Politics are always in my thoughts. I have always considered a cause of my weight loss.
Infections? Mild rash occasionally on my back and arms.
Three days ago I found a Bullseye Rash on my left arm. My next DRs. appointment is in four weeks. I took a picture of this rash yesterday and will show it to my Doc. then. I checked Web Med for symptom of Lyme yesterday and have none at this time.
No problems with the bathroom issues.
No heat issues. Thank You XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
There are multiple causes

Detailed Answer:
Hello, XXXXXXX thanks for your detailed response I really appretiate it for being so detailed and comprehensive.

As I said in my response that the reason might be hromonal and that's why i asked you particular questions aimed to get to get some clue of a hormonal disturbance.
I have considered all possible reasons of your weight loss and i am of the opinion that this involves multiple factors which caused the problem.

1) Thyroid:
Your thyroid hormone would have got raised thats why your doctor reduced the dose of the hormone , increased blood levels of thyroid hormones do decrease a person's weight because thyroid hormone increases metaboilsm.

2) Diabtetes:

In a few people it may increase weight but it can also lead to generalized weakness and weight loss specially if uncontrolled or the person is eating over cautiously. So it's always advised not to eat less but to eat good.

3) Stress:

Well this is also a very important cause of weight loss that's why i asked a closed ended question about it, it can disturb digestion , can reduce apetite without the person feeling any change in the appetite, but it does affect overall well being of a person.

I do appretiate your love for the country and your feeling the pain of it's people and things which aren't happening the way they were supposed to , but I believe this stress and worry should not excede a limit after which your ownself starts getting affected, I believe it is always great to think about prosperity of one's country but not at the cost of one's own health just play your positive part in the builidng hopefuly things will get better soon .

It's natural to keep thinking about your childern and grand childern but again in that too your own health shouldn't get affected.

I would suggest your to keep a few things in mind to make your health better.

1) If you have lost weight it might be a good weight loss if what you lost was fat, but if you are losing muscle and getting generalized weakness then this needs to be addressed.
2) You have to keep your thyroid hormone in limit. Lower than normal, you will gain bad weight and higher than normal, you will loose weight fat and muscle both.

2) Keep you diabetes in control , do take care but don't under eat, you can eat good protein , good fat even good carbs too but avoid hight glycemic index foods and this will stay under control.
3) Stay involved in a good physical activity may be small simple for 10-15 minutes a day but keep it 5-6 days a week.
4) Try not to let your cares and stress affect your health.

5) You can use vitamin D and calcium pills and multivitamins like centrum every alternate day for greater benefit.

I would suggest you not to worry much about the weight loss you can reive it just stay consistent and take some steps in the right direction.

Regards.
