What Causes Unilateral Breast Enlargement?

default
Posted on Tue, 8 Nov 2016
Question: Two years ago I had an usual event - I awoke with my left side (breast) suddenly being twice as large as the right. This issue did correct itself somewhat, but it remains an oddity that no one seems able to explain. I had an breast exam, MRI, CT, and nothing was found. The issue is now in my entire upper trunk - breast, hip and buttox - noticeable difference in mass and weight - where there was none before.
I have increasing symptoms of asymmetry. If I lie on my left side, my right side goes numb, or tingles very quickly (noticed 3 months ago). I am starting to wonder if it is not something to do with the circulatory system. My ears are ringing more loudly now, my neck hurts, and some tingling in hands.
I am not sure which specialist to see to run tests for any particular sources of these problems but it has started to frighten me - from the drastic initial symptoms to an increase in all of the symptoms above.
Thank you,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Spine compression to be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam

I can certainly understand your concern.

I have worked through your question in detail.

The assymetry in the breast can be normal since breast exam, MRI and CT scan are negative.

This assymetry is not related to circulatory disturbances

It would be more wise, if you had Mammogram as a part of assessment. Please check with your doctor if he can prescribe this test to you.

With regards to your other symptoms of hand and neck, the possibility cervical spondylosis is high.

It's important to get a MRI scan of the total spine to determine any cord compression due to degenerative discs.

Further management whether medical or surgical is largely based on test results.

Meanwhile I prescribe oral pills of Pregabalin 75 mg once daily and Methylcobalamin 1500 mcg once daily.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you
