What Causes Tinnitus Along With Pain And Pressure In The Ears?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Oct 2017
Question: Hello,
I have had issues with my ears and hearing for a long time now. About 5 or so years ago I began experiencing pain, occasional ringing, and a feeling of built up pressure deep within my ears. I also occasionally feel a sensation like fluid in the deeper ear canal but it never comes out. I have been to different regular doctors a few times but they could not find anything immediately. I have not been able to afford seeing an ENT doctor and have not had it looked at further, but recently it has been really bothering me as it is beginning to affect my hearing. Things sound echo-y and foreground noises are muted. Sometimes my ears pop at random and I can hear better, but it hurts worse. I don't know what this is, if it is anything at all, or if it can be fixed. Have you ever heard of something like this?
Please get back to me. Thank you,
Nik C

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thanks for putting up the query
From the complaints it is probably eustachian tube blockage leading to middle ear infection causing symptoms like fullness of the ear, hearing difficulty and tinnitus.
Please tell me do you have any history of frequent nasal or throat infection?
Any Investigations done?
What medicines have you been taking so far?
Follow up with the required information so that I can suggest you better.
Take care
Thanks and regards

I often get cold-like symptoms such as congestion and soarness in the nasal passage and throat but I do not think it is infection?
I have never taken any medication for it or had it looked at further. What do you recommend to remedy this?
Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the information
Your symptoms are probably due to nasal pathology only.
Please get a xray paranasal sinuses done.
Take tablet levocetrizine plus psuedophedrine twice daily and xylometazoline nasal drops three times a day for a week.
This will definitely help you with symptoms.
All the medicine prescribed by me will be available only on prescription.
Follow up with the reports.
Take care
