default
Posted on Wed, 11 Mar 2015
Question: Hi there, I have been rubbing my eye for the last few days and this morning had a yellow thick elasticy substance along the bottom of the eye. After washing my face and cleaning it off with a towel I noticed the towel had the yellow and a little bit of orange on it……(As I am actually about to head out to to the airport and will not be able to see my doctor for another few days – I am wondering whether I can use something that’s already in my medicine cabinet. I have a tube of Chlorsig 1% ointment and a tube of Siguent Hycor Eye Ointment 1% ??? Or should I purchase something else??
(Not sure if its related but I have been sneezing and feeling under the weather lately as well)
Thanking you in anticipation and looking forward to your answer.

Brief Answer:
Chlorsig eye ointment can be used.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having thick yellow discharge from the eye.
This symptom along with sneezing and other symptoms of the respiratory tract indicate infection of the eye in the form of conjunctivitis.
This requires treatment by the use of antibiotic eye drops or eye ointment.

Chlorsig is chloramphenicol eye ointment and it can be used safely.

Sigunet Hycor ointment is a hydrocortisone ointment and it should not be used as this looks like infection.
Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
With regards
