What Causes Swooshing In Head With Lightheadedness?

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Jun 2014
Question: My husband has episodes of a "swooshing" in his head (he points to temples) with lightheadedness/weakness for a few minutes when it occurs. It doesn't correlate with activity, etc. except that he noticed he is always standing when it occurs. His EKG was normal, BP low 100s over 60s, no pain in chest, neck, jaw, arms ever; normal labs with slightly elevated LDL. Any thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Further cardiac tests are needed...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through the medical history of your husband and feel sorry for the situation he is in.

If I was his caring doctor would advise to run further cardiac tests to rule out cardiac problems:
- cardiac echo
- holter monitoring
- tilt test

If everything is ok, then, should discuss it further with psychologist to evaluate his depression.

Hope it helped!
