What Causes Swollen Upper Lips After Using Burt's Bee Lip Balm?

Question: Upper lip has swollen to twice size. Lips chapped applied pressure to top lip placing it between bottom lip & teeth to create pressure. Applied burts bee lip balm lips began swelling from right side to left
Last night put lotion on lips no reaction of any kind until I put pressure and burts bees lip balm HOME # 000-000-0000

As per your complaint the symptoms of swelling of lip seems appear to be due to allergic reaction to lip balm..

1.Did the swelling appear after applying lip balm or it was there before as well?
2.Does the swelling reduce or is it constant?
3.Chapped lips occurred after swelling or were they chapped before that ?
4.Is there any associated pain, itching or any other symptoms like bumps on lip along with swelling?
5.Did you take any Medication along with icing or not?

Swelling occurred after applying bursts bee lip balm this morning. Lips also burned application. Only applied balm to upper lip
Lips were chapped all day yesterday into night
I am not itching nor do I have pain
I have not taken any medication for lips
I had 600mg of ibuprofen @ 7 am this morning for knee pain
Saw ortho dr at 8:15 am this morning to get shot in each knee for knee pain

Hi..
Thanks for the reply..

As per your response it seems that you have got an allergic reaction to the ingredients present in the lip balm leading to swelling..
Nothing to worry as it will resolve gradually..
The first thing that you should do is to stop application of lip balm..
You can continue icing the lip..
Take anti allergics like Benadryl or Levocetrizine..
Avoid licking, sucking or pressing the lip..
You can apply Petroleum jelly for lubrication of lips as it helps in locking moisture as well as lubricate the lips..
Drink lots of water..
