Brief Answer:
Complete thyroid profile testing is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,

I understand your query and concern. What I understood from your query is: You had hiatal hernia surgery. Because of low BMD surgery for scoliosis had been cancelled. Doctor gave you Forteo. You had implant surgeries. Now you have swollen breasts with tenderness, loss of hair.
You want to know whether it could be due to hernia or hypothyroidism

As per your clinical history, there could be a possibility of Forteo induced hypothyroidism.

Forteo has few implications in causing breast tenderness as well.

Hence I advise you to get a complete thyroid profile testing.

Regarding Hiatal hernia repair, it’s advisable to get an X- ray chest along with Ultrasound abdomen to evaluate the status of hernial orifice in the diaphragm.

You can proceed to Scoliosis surgery if you have attained normal BMD.

Post your doubts in follow up if any

Thank you.

Something happened and my query got lost . I'll repeat. If forteo caused hypothyroidism (I will get the complete thyroid workup)...will my system go back to normal ? I stoppedal forteo sept. 4. April to sept. Every other day. Or is this probably irreversible? And then I may have to take medicine? Will it reverse the belly fat etc. I'm experiencing? I'm a tiny petite girl 90 lbs 5 ft. Athletic horses for 40 years...dancer...etc. I was in good shape.scoliosis caused me to slow down a bit. But now after the thyroil test..if positive....do I see an endocronologist or continue with NYU 's osteoporosis dr. Who really did not inform me much about forteo?

Brief Answer:
This is a reversible state

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam.

I understand your concern.

I received your follow up query completely.

This form of drug induced hypothyroidism if any is absolutely reversible.

Cessation of forteo should be made only in consultation with your treating physician.

Reversal of belly fat can be done with the correction of hypothyroidism and scoliosis as well.

If found positive for hypothyroid state you need to consult an endocrinologist.

Thank you.
