Question: Hello it seems tthat my anal ring is swollen.. doesn't seem to each but it's sore and actually woke me up from a little bit of the pain consistently sore .. I guess you could say it's inflamed and if I stick my finger near it it feels like my hole anal cavity around the ring is kind of hard from the swelling.. been like this for several days and I think it's worse it's not severe pain I did wake up in the middle of the night and it's enough for me not to be able to sleep.. seems to be a little more swollen on one side than the other

Brief Answer:
Sitz bath would be beneficial

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details provided. The first thing that I would like to ask is whether you have constipation or hard stool since that could be a possible cause of your condition. In any case, taking Sitz bath a couple of times a day for a few days should help in resolving your problem. In a big tumbler you need to take water as hot as your skin can take, and you need to sit on it with your anal opening dipped into the water. You may add some antiseptic in the water and you need to do it for around 20 mins a couple of times a day. You also need to take some stool softener like psyllium husk or milk of magnesia.

Hope that would provide relief.

My school has not been hard it's actually been soft because I lately been having a couple of cocktails every night lol. That's not my usual practice but lately I have been. I took some motrin it seemed to take the pain away this morning I do feel better but I do feel that it is still a little bit tender and hard.. having that information does it still seem that your resolutions are appropriate? And what exactly or what do you think my problem really is.. Is it serious or just a temporary thing that will go away without drugs or antibiotics?

Brief Answer:
The same treatment applies

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for clarifying. I understand that your stool is not hard but still the same solution is applicable. In fact the cocktails have been the reason behind your present condition and you need to cut down on it totally. Antibiotics or other drugs would not be helpful at the moment. Just follow the directives given in the previous communication. Additionally you may use Annovate or any other lubricating cream over the region.
