Question: I hurt my knuckle and it is swollen and red. Can I take amoxicillin FOR THIS?

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic and it is not likely to be useful here unless you have an infection of the hand.
If you notice a discharge or suspect that the changes are due to an infection then you can use the antibiotic

Anti inflammatory medication such as naproxen, cataflam, ibuprofen , voltaren would be more helpful.
These medications reduce the inflammation in an area and would help with the swelling and redness.

In addition, a cold compress to the area, a bandage to control the swelling and elevation of the hand, would also be helpful as well.
Elevation helps with swelling and pain
