What Causes Swelling And Pain In Right Chick And Jaw Joints?
Question: Hello,
my name is XXXX.
my right chick is swelling since yesterday.due to this pain i could not sleep whole night. i dont have any tooth pain but i am not able to open my jaws more then 1 finger thickness. i have a pain at the joint of 2 jaws near ear. what could be cause of this? what is the solution for this?
this happenned some months back same way but it automatically went off after 3-4 days. i dont know due to what.

I have gone through your post and understand your concern.
Based on the descriptions you have given I think you could be suffering from TMJD.
It is very difficult to make out the exact cause of this. Most probable causes are
1) Abnormal birth defect of jaw(which can manifest lately)
2) Arthritis of Temporo mandibular joint.
3) Abnormal dislocation of TM joint disc into joint space.
4) Habitual grinding of teeth
5) Erosion of TM joint.
6) Stress. etc.
I would suggest you to consult your ENT specialist for detailed examination.
Your doctor may request for imaging studies like MRI (can give details about cartilagenous structures) / CT( details about bony structures).
Once the exact cause is made out, appropriate treatment can be started.
For now you can take Over the counter NSAID drugs like Ibuprofen for pain relief.
Apply cold/hot compress alternatively.
Avoid excess movement, take soft/ semisolid foods.
Avoid pressure on right side of face(like supporting hand on face)
Avoid stressful situation which can aggravate your symptoms.
If nothing is working then you may need muscle relaxants and corticosteroid injections which are prescription drugs.
Kindly consult your ENT doctor immediately.
