Question: My Son is 7 Years Old & hos weights is 29Kg. He is lean & height is also good.\
In day time he used to go to school & play cricket in the evening. Also he does skating twice a week..
Recently he is reporting of pain in his both legs (Upper & Lower Legs) in the night. We got the tests done for Calcium (which is normal) & Vitamin D (which is low). My doctor says no need to worry as this is Growing pain & asked to give Vitamin D Sachet(Calcirol- 60,000 IU)) once a week for 6 weeks.
Please advise if the Legs pain is normal?

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

I have gone through the query and do understand your concern.I have also seen the reports and there is nothing to worry much.
The hemoglobin and calcium level are normal.
Vitamin D level is mildly low (insufficient) and weekly supplementation as advised by your physician is sufficient.
I agree with your doctor as growing pain is very common in this age and particularly in a sporty child.
One important clue to the diagnosis of growing pain is that it never occurs in the morning. No specific treatment is needed and it improves over a period of time as child grows.
Whenever pain is severe do massaging and hot fomentation. If pain does not improves you may give mild analgesic like paracetamol.
So I won't get overly worried as this is very common in this age and suggest you to continue vitamin D supplementation as advised.

I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any queries.
Regards
