Vascular problems can be diagnosed with an ultrasound scan of the leg arteries (triplex). Neuropathy can be diagnosed with simple clinical tests but there are more objective ways to assess the nerves' function.

Gabapentin may help with neuropathy. Sometimes the symptoms require escalation of the dosage to the point that side effects may become more important than the beneficial effects of the drug.
