Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Your symptoms are not typical of a cardiac disorder.

Is the pain triggered by deep breathing or arm movement? This would be indicative of a musculo-skeletal pain.

A pinched nerve in the arm can not be excluded either. Maybe a wrong position during sleeping or a stretched muscle during physical activity.

But, both the above mentioned disorders are not life-threatening. So, relax and don't worry about it! There is no reason to worry about a heart attack.

I would recommend taking ibuprofen for the pain. If it help relieve the pain, it would be another argument in favor of the above disorders.

Hope to have been helpful!

Let me know about everything!

Wishing good health,

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Thank you for the additional information.

Your symptoms could be related to stretched muscle in the shoulder or arm.

But a cervical disk herniation with irradiating radicular pain in the arm can not be excluded either.

I recommend avoiding straining physical activity in the next days and take ibuprofen 400mg three times daily.

If the pain persists, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical exam and some tests:

- a cervical spine X ray study
- a nerve conduction study of the nerves in the arm and shoulder.

A cervical spine CT scan may be needed.

Hope to have been helpful!

Wishing all the best,

Dr. Iliri
