What Causes Spotting After Taking Fertility Medicine?

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Jan 2015
Question: Hello me and my husband have been trying to have a baby so the doctor put me on metformin and clomid. He then switched to another fertility medicine to see if that could help me better. I finished all the medicine and now my periods are weird. I usually get my periods and they are heavy and my clots are very large but for the past two months they have been weird. I will bleed but no blood will be on the pad, it is only there when I wipe. When I wipe the blood is red sometimes and then it is brownish red wed with little blood clots. I have also been feeling dizzy and over the last couple of weeks there was a throw up feeling in my throat. Do you think my and my husband dream of having a baby has come true. To scared to take a pregnancy test.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The symptoms that you have described can be due to pregnancy. The mild spotting that you are having during periods can be an implantation bleeding or due to a hormonal imbalance like PCOD or thyroid hormone imbalance. You need to get a pregnancy test done to find out the cause.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.

Brief Answer:
Less likely to be pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If it is persistent for last 5-6 days then it is less likely to be an implantation bleeding. If it is due to PCOD then the hormonal tests are needed to find out the extent of problem and usually with proper and regular treatment conception can take place in 6-8 months.
Hope my answer is helpful.
