Posted on Fri, 8 Jul 2016
Question: Monday I had soreness on the baseline of my head where the hair ends. I figured it was my hair clip. but the soreness got worse and today it has traveled to the top of my head. I have a-fib, lymphedemia, and very swollen legs. I have an apt in the morning with my doctor. but am having difficulties sleeping thinking about my head. I also had on Monday a small amount of sinus drainage.
what could this possibly be

Brief Answer:
Could possibly be an infection or iritation from the clip!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this soreness on your heard that you have reported. I have reviewed your information fully and this seems suggestive of a possible infection or extended inflammation following the irritation caused by the hair clip. Its acute nature suggests that there is really nothing much going on and would be easily managed with anti-inflammatory drugs and possibly antibiotics. Be calm and relaxed and am glad your are seeing your doctor soon for further examination and management.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.

I went to the ER and was prescribed clindamycin 150mg cap tid. I was given an iv dose in the ER to start medication. I took my first capsule about an hour ago. after
15 minutes I threw up this dose. Should I retake this medication or wait til my next scheduled dose. I called the ER and they referred me back to the pharmacy that
dispensed this medication. They are closed. What should I do?

Brief Answer:
THis is probably late!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If you could see the drug in the vomit or immediately after taking the drug(Less than 30minutes), then repeat it. If not, wait for the next scheduled dose. I am sorry because this response might not really hep now but will do for future similar episodes.

I wish you well and let me know how you are doing!

Not good. I have cellulitus and swelling in my right leg as well. The doctor wrote for oral antibiotic. My insurance says I must fail oral antibiotic regimen before they will cover hospital care. The antibiotics have caused a lot of diarrhea which has caused my hemorrhoids to begin bleeding. I take warfarin for afib. I have sent the ER treating my infection but have not heard back yet. just sent message to them and waiting for answer

Brief Answer:
Are they suggesting that you get treated as an inpatient?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Is the doctor suggesting that you get hospitalized or what do you mean by the insurance will not cover for hospital care? Can you shed more light on this?

It is a bit of a mess up. I have been having problems with cellulitus since summer of 2013. On a different problem I was seen by a different doctor for a second opinion. The doctor I have been seeing dropped me from his care. This happened Thursday.
So off to the ER I went. The ER doctor said that since my white cell count was not high enough to admit he could not admit me unless I fail outpatient treatment. The swelling in my leg has not gotten any better but have only been on oral antibiotics for 3 days. In the meantime, the diarrhea has caused my hemorrhoids to bleed. I am on warfarin regimin due to a-fib.
If you don't want to get in the middle of this, I will understand.

Brief Answer:
Honestly, I cannot and should't get into it.!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I will suggest you get back to the ER doctor for an update of treatment. This is really beyond taking care of your disease and makes it complex not being your regular doctor to be more helpful.

Courage.
