Brief Answer:
Recurrent cellulitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your question.

I would be concerned that you have cellulitis again on your chin. What type of implant did you have as if you are getting recurrent bouts of infection in the same region there would be a concern that you might have a deeper infection involving the implant and this should be investigated.

The cardinal signs of cellulite are pain, redness, swelling, increased warmth and a reduction in the movement in that area largely due to pain.

It is possible that you have cellulitis on you leg also. If you can post a photo this might help me identify the problem but if the rash fits with the description above then you might assume it is cellulitis, although it would be unusual and unfortunate to develop this infection in two separate sites.

I hope this answers your question.

Best wishes

The chin implant was done when I had TMJ surgery and when I was in the hospital 4 months ago I did have the redness and swelling I had to come home with a picc line my symptoms started with pain around my chin and on it but it was several months before the swelling with the redness started then it was so bad I had to be put into the hospital my chin looked like it was going to bust and it was very painful until it finally drained this time it's doing the same thing I did upload 3 pictures I hope you able to get them the one that was in my mouth those little places never went away from before but the one on the left has puss in it from time time cause it must be draining. Those places came up because my chin had swollen so much and it was on both ends from the incision when they did the implant years ago

Brief Answer:
Sounds like a deep infection on your chin

Detailed Answer:
hi,

thanks for the further information and the pictures.

the rash on your shin does not look like cellulitis. the picture of your chin / mouth is not visible.

from what you describe it does sound like you have a deep infection related to the previous surgery.

when there is foreign material implanted into the body and it gets infected the only way to cure the infection is to remove the implants and treat with long term antibiotics until the infection clears. at this point further implantation and reconstruction can take place.

if it is not possible or the patient and or dr does not what to treat the infection in this way then it can sometimes be suppressed with long term antibiotic therapy.

I hope this answers your question.

best wishes
