What Causes Soreness In The Right Eye?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Dec 2016
Question: i have a sore right eye (feels like there's something in it), i saw a Doctor/Optometrist yesterday morning who removed an eyelash that was rubbing the eye...the irritation feeling hasn't gone away, the eye is streaming more now than yesterday and is joined by acute headaches (strong enough to wake me up during the night) that run from the eye along to my ear causing earache... this happens in waves...sometime every minute or so and sometimes every 20 minutes and only lasts a few seconds. This morning i also have a gland (feels like maybe the bottom deep cervical gland) also on my right side that is swollen. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. XXXX

Brief Answer:
Home care & needful Expert advise is advised.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for the query under Healthcare magic platform.I have read it & understood your concern.
* It seems the removal of eye lash has caused trauma to conjunctiva.. which has probably lead to inflammation of eye. If here is no infection along with it, it should subside within 24 hours with anti inflammatory steroidal eye drops to be put in eye three times a day along with anti inflammatory pills like Ibuprofen 400 mg taken twice a day after eating.
Use black goggles & give some rest to eye.
Do not rub eyes/ heat with hot pad
Clean the eye while it's closed with warm sterile cotton swab boiled in water twice a day.
* In case there is no relief within 24 hours/ there is thick yellowish discharge/ in case you start running temperature..You should immediately consult an eye specialist for his expert advise . He may offer you suitable antibiotic along with other medications.
Eye being very delicate & important part of body.. the problem should be taken care of in time.
I hope you find the answer informative & useful. any follow up query is welcome.
thank you.
