default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: I have a sore larynx. It hurts to swallow, and pain radiates to my ears. It is also painful to the touch. The pain is worse when I lie down. I also feel pain when I inhale deeply. I have no fever. I don't feel any lumps in my neck. I don't feel like I'm coming down with anything.

Brief Answer:
It can be due to pharyngitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to pharyngitis. If there is involvement of larynx changes in sound will be present.

Initially you can do home remedies like warm saline gargle, steam inhalation, taking lemon tea with honey , chicken soup with pepper and chewable vitamin c.

Over the counter analgesics like motrin and nasal decongestants in case of nasal block will be helpful also.

If there is no improvement and worsening then antibiotics will be required. I would recommend antibiotics like Co-amoxiclav in such case.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
