What Causes Small Hard Swelling On Penis?

default
Posted on Thu, 11 Jun 2015
Question: Yesterday, I noticed a small hard swelling on the side of my penis. I thought it was a cyst and thought maybe I could pop it. However, it doesn't not seem to have a "center" like most cysts I've seen have. It is now very sensitive and warm to the touch. I'm a little freaked out and wondering if I have an STD or something. I had sex over a week ago, but used a condom. I don't have any other symptoms. I did masturbate the night before I realized it was there. Could it be penile Lymphocele? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
It could be either Sebaceous Cyst or Infection of hair follicle.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have a swelling over the side of shaft of the penis .

The photographs that you have uploaded are soot up from very close angle hence could not identify the swelling.

Please take the photograph from distance and if possible mark the mark the swelling .

Based on what you have described it could be either Sebaceous Cyst or infected hair follicle .However it needs to be confirmed by clinical examination by a qualified General Surgeon.

Take antibiotics like Augmentin along with anti inflammatory medication like Diclofenac twice daily for a week...

If does not subside consult General Surgeon for evaluation and further treatment
You may need to get it drained or excised in Toto .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

I uploaded more photos and sent them to you. I circled the swollen area that is somewhat hard.

So you don't think this could be an STD? I know you probably can't rule that out for sure without testing it, but you opinion would provide me with some relief. Should I go see a doctor ASAP or should I wait a week? Should I refrain from masturbation and sex?

OK. Thank you doctor. Can I just ask... on a scale of 1-10, with one being not sure and ten being positive, how sure are you that this is a infection of a hair follicle in a stage of induration?
