What Causes Shortness Of Breath Despite A Normal Stress Test Report?
Question: My elevator broke and for the last week i have been climbing 6 flights of stairs which is a total of 90 steps. Of course I am out of breath when i make it to the top but a few days ago I noticed I continued to have a shortice of breath every now and then during the day even when i am not climbing the stairs. My doctor did a EKG which he said was good and a ultrasound which was good and said my heart was strong. He said i now need to do a stress test is that a good thing or bad thing ? If the EKG came back good and i have a strong heart what can possibly be the issue ? I feel a little better but not yet at 100 % i am still worried and concerned

Sometimes rest ECG is normal, but we have ECG changes in stress, when heart needs to work stronger and needs more blood supply.
Don't worry, most probably your stress test will come back normal, but even if there are changes, it is better to diagnose the disease in early stage, when there is no complication. In this case treatment will be more effective and prevention of complication may be easier. So in early stages we can prevent disease progression.
