Brief Answer:
There are many possible causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

I read carefully your query and understand your concerns.

There are many conditions that can cause sharp pain in the lower right side of abdomen.
Most common causes include:
-Muscle spasm
-Appendicitis
-Diverticulitis
-Kidney stones that cause sharp stabbing pain when they move in urinary tract.

All these options are possible in your case.

Another possible cause is the rupture of right ovary's cysts.
During follicular phase of menstrual cycle ,in ovaries can be formed one or more cysts.
These cysts can rupture in different time of the month causing this sharp, shooting pain in lower abdomen that goes away on its own.

To know for sure what is causing your symptoms you need to consult a physician ,get examined and do some tests in the time that you have this pain.
You need to do an abdominal /pelvic ultrasound .This can exclude appendicitis, kidney stones ,ovary cysts .
You may need to do an abdominal X-ray with barium to exclude Diverticulitis.
You also need to do an urinalysis to exclude urinary tract infection.

In my opinion since this pain happens time to time (it is not constant) and tends to go away on its own ,it doesn't seem to be something serious.
If the pain continue to happen ,I would suggest to consult a physician and get the tests done ,just to exclude theses common causes.

Hope it helps.
