default
Posted on Wed, 20 Jan 2016
Question: Currently having severe directly center of belly button a bladder type as well as prostate type pain - very sensitive - but also pale stools. The pain is exactly like a bladder infection as well as feels like a prostate infection.

The pale stools seem to come after I eat fatty foods

I am really REALLY bloated.

I had really bad watery diahrheea 3 days ago but this morning had a good bowel movement but it was YELLOW PALE LIGHT Green!!!

I have had diverticulitis in the past but this time pain is ONLY dead center - 4-5 inches directly under belly button.

PROSTATE?
Bladder?
Colon?

I feel much better today but still bloated but pain is almost gone.

Yesterday and the day before I could barely walk - it felt like I had a sharp block of wood in front of my bladder - It felt better if I placed my hand on my bladder and pulled up on my gut.

I only weigh 155 pounds and am 5' 9"

No fever

My stools have been really random over the past year - but pretty normal last 2 months - still on lighter side (dark Gray brown)

Thanks

You should go for ultrasound abdomen.

How many times in your career have you ever seen....

Porphyria

I am sometimes presenting EXACTLY like a acute case

Your thoughts please

Basically I have been dealing with attacks like this for 5 years now.

Sometimes the doctors in California think its Diverticulitis and at other times
Prostate - But during one bad attack they went inside my rectum and did the finger press and I had NO pain and NO infection - yet I presented like a prostate infection as well as diverticulitis.

I get bloated all the time and my stools are pale now.

Could this really be like you are thinking or what about Porphyria?

Please consult with your fellow doctors if you could please

Brief Answer:
If you have symptoms then you should test for porphyria.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

As per your details you can have diverticulitis or intestinal disease, prostate disease or rare chance of porphyria.

First of all prostate problems are very easy to diagnosis. Routine urine examination, ultrasound abdomen and serum PSA level are enough for diagnosis of prostate problems. Moreover oly acute prostatitis leads to severe abdominal pain. Other prostate disease generally don't cause episodic severe abdominal pain.

Intestinal pain are more likely cause and bloating is related to intestinal problems.

Now comes to porphyria, it is very rare disease.
I have seen few cases of porphyria.
Acute porphyria generally present with acute abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, hypertension, tachycardia and muscular weaknesses. All symptoms are not present all the time.

So if you have any such symptoms then you should go for urine estimation of porphobilinogen at time of acute attack. Blood and urine porphyrin level can be done.

In between the attack thr most of these tests comes negative. So you need to test at time of acute attack.

Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
