But as of last night I not only had pain in my feet, but I also had shooting pains in the back of my ankles. Is this also from my neurtothopy , or something else?

Brief Answer:
Possible reasons for pain

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your question. It is possible that the pain is from diabetes related neuropathy. However, few other possibilities are to be considered like joint related problems, Gout, calcaneal spur or plantar fasciitis. I presume you do not have any swelling around ankle. You may need an Xray of foot along with ankle and blood test for Serum uric acid . These tests are to be done after a doctor has seen and examined your foot and ankle.
