What Causes Severe Pain In Right Foot?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Mar 2016
Question: Writing for my husband, who is 65.
He has pain in both feet but different symptoms for each foot.

Right foot is the worst and has been ongoing for a few weeks now. Pain is in the bottom of the foot, primarily the ball of the foot, right at the center toe. Pain comes when he flexes his toes, when his foot is flat on the floor, when the feet is resting on its side (like when sitting). Pain starts as a ache in the morning, as the day wears on, pain changes to "pain". My husband says on a scale of one to ten, pain it its worse is 7 when not taking Tylenol and at a 5 with Tylenol. When pain is at his worse, raising his feet does not alleviate the pain. He does limp and lean towards his left foot when the pain is worse.

On the left foot, this is a more recent change. I noticed that his skin is very dry on both feet and did have it put lotion on and reminded him to drink more water. There is nothing visible in the area he indicated as causing him pain, and he was not experiencing any pain at the time I checked him. The pain is between his 3 center toes. If there is a fungus there it is not visible. Low pain in this area and the pain comes and goes.

Wife speaking...I have plantar fasciitis so I'm familiar with the symptoms for myself anyway which are textbook. My husband is not presenting with his symptoms in the same way. I can help him with the exercises and see if that starts to bring some relief and work with his shoes too but we see how it goes.

The left foot has an entirely different problem which has not been addressed.

Thank you for your time.
