What Causes Severe Numbness And Tingling Sensation In Lower Right Foot?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 May 2016
Question: Yes, I have been having severe tingling and numbness in my right lower foot. It actually, feels like I have a rubber band around my lower leg that is tightening causing pain from that point down. It would not cause me concern except I have been having this symptoms for several days and they are getting increasingly more severe. What could be the cause?

I don't know if this makes a difference, but I am recovering from a fractured left knee. So previously, I was putting more weight on this leg using crutches although I have been off the crutches now for several weeks. Currently, walking with a cane only when I leave the house. Just thought you should have this additional piece of information.

Brief Answer:
Nerve compression vs. impaired blood flow.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

There are two conditions that may cause your symptoms:

1. Impaired blood flow of your left leg due to venous drainage incompetency, or artery thrombosis

2. Nerve compression and related neuropathy

Both these conditions can be caused by local trauma, or can be aggravated by trauma if you suffered from these symptoms previously.

It is necessary to have simple tests done such as Doppler ultrasound and nerve conduction study of your leg to achieve the correct diagnosis.

Aspercreme relieves minor pain related to inflammation.

Discuss with your Doctor about getting tested further.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
