What Causes Severe Itching On The Vagina?
Question: Yes please. I started out with dryness and itching in my vagina last saturday then it turned into itching and buring when i peed. O went to my dr on wed and ahe though I had a uti but she gave me meds for a uti and a yeast infection. Well uti test came back negative but a day or two after i took the yeast infection pill the itching and burning stopped. That means i had a yeast infection right?

i wouldn't be herpes? right if the yeast infection meds cleared it up correct? i havent been with anyone other than my husband for 3 years and never had these symptoms before and didnt have any of the other symptoms that web md talked about but when i used the darn symtom tracker when i put in pain on urination herpes qas the first result and now i cant get it out kf my head

Having come into contact with an infected person is required in order to contract herpes. It doesn't have to be with his genitals. Even mouth lesions may transmit herpes. And even if there are no lesions, transmission is still possible. But herpes causes a rash (which is characteristic) and pain. Sometimes herpes may be hiding inside the vagina though.
Taking everything into account I don't believe that herpes is the most likely cause. Vaginitis seems to be the most likely etiology but I can't diagnose anything from afar. Vaginitis usually also causes staining in the underwear and perhaps white patches (Candida) on the mucosal surface. Clinical examination by your gynecologist would have been diagnostic.
