Brief Answer:
Most likely a viral fever, test information details provided

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. The weather is changing rapidly and during this time viral fever is more common than malaria or dengue. In my experience I am seeing less number of malaria and dengue cases right now.

2. From the above description of your symptoms, the probability of a viral flu is more likely. The symptoms began with sudden onset and there is no significant worsening of the fever. The body pain in viral flu can occasionally worsen and you will recover from this slowly over a week.

3. It looks like the particular strain of flu caused mainly mild fever and joint pain. There is no cough or rhinitis as you have mentioned. The weather changes in your surroundings can cause this type of flu attack.

4. Please keep a close watch on your symptoms, in malaria there is high fever with shivering at regular intervals. Dengue has symptoms of unexplained fever with rashes in the body and low platelet counts.

5. For your information the malaria test is a simple blood test from the tip of your finger to look for malaria parasite and this test is called MP test for malaria. In dengue the test is for specific antigens and antibodies and platelet count in the blood and this is called the dengue antigen antibodies test with a platelet count. You can find these tests in most laboratories in XXXXXXX

6. Fever and joint pain can be controlled with crocin 500 mg every 6 hours after food only when you are having fever or pain. Please take precautions, do warm water gargle two times daily and take healthy food. You require two days rest from work.

7. Initially I suggest you to watch your symptoms closely for 3 days. If there is there is any worsening or symptoms persisting for over a week then a condition other than viral fever or a secondary bacterial infection can be suspected.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
Your an take crocin 3 times daily after food

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Crocin is a safe medicine and you can take it 3 times a day after food. Please do not have it in empty stomach. You can stop crocin when there is no fever.

2. It is true that viral fever causes weakness and you do not feel hungry. Please drink lots of fluids and juices. Eat in small quantities at regular intervals. You may not like to have oily and spicy foods so have which ever food appears suitable to your taste.

3. This weakness will stay for a week. You can take vitamin supplement like A to Z vitamin capsule one daily. If you are non vegetarian then a boiled egg can be taken every day and this will give you required energy. Please also eat fruits which you like.

Hope your query is answered.

Brief Answer:
If abdomen pain worsens and black stool persists then please consult doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Pain in stomach and passing motions many times can be from an infection of the digestive system. These can also be either bacterial or viral.

2. I am not sure if the black stool is due to inadequate food intake in the last few days or anything more serious like bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. Taking iron supplement can cause black colored stools. Please do not take crocin or any pain reliever on empty stomach. If you were my patient then I would have prescribed medicine to prevent gastritis like pantoprazole 40 mg to be taken on empty stomach for a week.

3. Regarding food you can take foods like idli, curd rice, plain dosa cooked at home in less oil, rice and plain dal, roasted bread without butter, tender coconut water, boiled vegetable soup.

4. Sometimes conditions like typhoid or enteric fever can also present with fever then progress to have pain in abdomen and frequent stool which might be black in color.

5. If your pain persists tomorrow then please consult your doctor immediately and get examined clinically. If required and after clinical examination, they might tell you to do some tests for your symptoms.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
