Brief Answer:
Common, after recovery of facial palsy.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having on of facial pain.

Based on your clinical details, it appears to be synkenis (nerve regeneration).

At recovery phase of facial palsy, facial nerve regeneration occurs, where nerve fibers wrongly attached to wrong muscles or same muscles (muscles become tight during laughing or common cold and causes intense pain).

As such, they are non serious, can be manged with long term facial exercises. in case of severe pain, Botox injections. can be tried.

In my opinion, you need to reconsult an ent surgeon to measure the recovery of facial nerve.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
