Hello
It seems from the history that you are having facial palsy. Facial nerve supplies the orbicularis oculi muscle and plays an important role in blinking. Facial nerve palsy leads to decreased blinking and inability to close the eyelids called as lagophthalmos.
Because of lagophthalmos dryness...

Hi and thanks for the query.
From your symptoms it looks like you have facial palsy - weakness of the nerve supplying the structure of the face.
Facial palsy produces the following symptoms
1) Twisting of one side of the face - deviation of one angle of the mouth.
2) Inability to close one eye...

I have had a slightly numb tongue for a day or two and this evening I cannot close right eye very easily and it is teary. I googled Bell's palsy symptoms but I cannot be sure it is that because I can wrinkle my forehead and raise my eyebrows without any problem. I have not experienced any numbness anywhere on my body and the only pain I have felt is a slight one in the back of my head ( same side as teary eye, pretty much opposite on back of head). It's not really painful as such, more an aggravating sensation in one particular spot. About half an hour or so after I noticed problems with my eye, I developed two red patches around the outside of each eye (on the skin, not the eye itself) . They feel a little sore.

Hi,

Thanks for your query.

In one type of facial nerve paralysis (the upper motor neuron type) the fore head muscles are spared. So there will not be asymmetry of fore head wrinkles in this type of facial palsy.

Try to show your teeth completely in front of a mirror. The angle of mouth will be...

Hello, I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy about a week after I turned 12 years old. Since then, and especially throughout high school, I have suffered horribly from all types of headaches and migraines. I have seen countless doctors and have been given countless treatments and prescriptions, all to no avail. Is there any connection between bell's palsy and the headaches and migraines?

doctor1 MD

Hello,

Thanks for the questions

Before I respond to your question let me tell you that Bell's palsy is one of the causes of facial palsy. Other causes of facial palsy could be related to brain infection/tumor etc. If some has these problems headache could be there along with facial palsy....

Late July 2016 had left sided bells palsy that was very mild. Had ct or brain (negative) and MRI (negative) with dx due to viral infection. About same time had right eye flashes. Been to several eye and retinal doctors. They attribute to ocular migraines.

Early September 2016 had right sided Bell's palsy. It appeared to have resulted and it too was very mild. No known cause. Did have strong right tmj pain.

Mid October 2016 awoke to pulsating in ear and still have it. ENT said will order Mri if not resolved by mid December. No hearing loss per testing. 2 small left side posterior cervical nodes are palpable and me right side posterior cervical. ENT said nothing to worry about, so did PCP.

late November 2016 had CBC with 11,200 on abc count but all other items were in middle of ranges. No diff was ordered. PCP felt no issues.

no fevers or chills since mid July except one random couple hour one in mid September.
no weight loss
some headaches recently but attribute that to poor sleep from sick kids
blood pressure is around 125/75 with 90 for pulse throughout these months
atiff neck at times. Chiropractor says muscles are tight.

Should I get referral to neurologist?
could this be brain issue?

most tell me it is just stress and anxiety, which might be true but this debilitating of physical symptoms?

should I be concerned about canceR?

Hello and thank you for coming again to HealthcareMagic.

Looking at the description you provide I do not think that cancer is a likely cause. As you describe it your symptoms are scattered, affecting hearing, facial nerves on different sides, visual...

My father is 79 years old and has been suffering from ear infection for past 2 months or more. The doctors gave antibiotics only. He also had facial palsy and his face became out of shape on left side and was given some steroid tablets. This face problem is almost over and he looks normal within a month. Improvement is seen everyday. His pain has been lessened now but now he is very weak and feels sleepy all the time and does not want to eat. We are giving him liquid diet for past ten days. What should be done? Doctors have checked him and he seems to be alright.
