Question: Just woke up to my 3 year old coughing like a deep bark! What the hell is this?

Hi Dear,

This history is quite common among small children especially in the colder season.
Baby had contacted some Upper respiratory tract Infection could be viral or bacterial leading to such symptoms.
His/Her throat and larynx might be inflamed and this can be confirmed by local examination be Your pediatrician or ENT specialist.
Steam inhalation along with antibacterial mouth wash like chlorhexidine to be given frequently to wash out the local infection started.
Antihistaminic decongestant medicine preparation along with paracetamol will relieve the symptoms of cough.
Antibiotics may also be required depending upon the local examination of throat by the pediatrician.
