What Causes Severe Abdominal Cramps And Spotting During 5 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Nov 2015
Question: I am just at my five-week point and am having some pretty strong cramping along with some spotting when I go pee. My HCG levels are where they should be and doubling at the appropriate rate.

I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks before, but my HCG levels were very low and not increasing so I am hoping this is normal.

What would be best appropriate course of action for me?

Brief Answer:
Likely to be a viable pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
At 5 weeks pregnancy, there can be a mild spotting due to implantation bleeding. If the HCG levels are increasing normally then it is likely to be a viable pregnancy and there is no need to worry. It is best right now to take rest, avoid any heavy work and get your serum progesterone levels evaluated. In case the levels are low then do take proper supplement after consulting your gynecologist.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
