What Causes Right Sided Ear Pain Radiating To The Jaw And Face?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Jul 2015
Question: I have had a pain in and around my right ear for the last few days that also radiates to my upper jaw and the bone area right by my ear, at the edge of my face. That lower cheek bony area is sore and tender to the touch and feels slightly inflamed or swollen, or with a possible small growth. Can't figure out if its ear or jaw related, or something else, but sometimes my right jaw seems to slightly pop out of alighnment, also causing sharp pain. Would love to know what I may be dealing with and what kind of doctor to see. Thank you, XXXX. Email: YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Parotitis or temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query

I have gone through the history thoroughly and understood your problem. I am of the opinion that you could be having either parotitis (inflammation of the parotid gland) or temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction.

You need to consult an apt ENT specialist first and a maxillo-facial surgeon if the diagnosis turns out to be temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction.

Hope this answers your query; revert back to me if you have any follow-up queries.
