Posted on Wed, 9 Jul 2014
Question: Hi Doctor,

Few days before I went to Gastroenterologist for asking advice on pantraprazole tablets. The doctor had examined and told that there may be a small infection in throat. I have taken some photos of my throat through XXXXXXX and I found red areas in throat. From last 2 days I have felt irritation in the upper roof of the mouth and checked and found the upper roof area also redness is happening. I don't know what exactly is this. I have taken photos. Please find the attachments.
May I know what is this red inflammations. Is this oral cancer. I am a non smoker non drinker. Pls let me know.

Medical history: I was diagnosed with H pylori (active gastritis) in last april/may time and had undergone triple therapy. After the triple therapy I felt reflux for first time and immediately changed my diet and completely avoided the foods. Only bananas, white rice I consume and lost lot of weight.

Brief Answer:
As below:

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. The images show areas of inflammation on the soft palate.

2. This may be due to pharyngitis (infection) or acid reflux. This is not cancer.

3. You may request your physician to try a different anti-reflux medication and a gut motility enhancer.

I hope that I have answered your queries. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
