What Causes Recurring Bubble Sensation In Throat And Behind The Left Shoulder?

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Aug 2016
Question: I have had recurring bubble in throat for the last week that I'm pretty sure is gas; sometimes it's in back left shoulder. I had lap band surgery 6 years ago and I'm wondering if I'm eating too much or too fast.

when will an answer be ready?

I should have gotten an answer by now; I am not pleased with this service!!

Brief Answer:
It can be due to eating or multiple causes

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

Welcome to health care magic!

Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, it is sad to know what you had been experiencing lately. Based on the history you have shared, relating to the lap band surgery, this bubbling sensation can be anything ranging from over eating, or regurgitation of food into food pipe or incomplete opening of food pipes lower end which opens into stomach. The pain which is radiating to shoulders can also be a sequalae of that. You need to see a gastroentrologist and have an ultrasound done as well as chest Xrays with barium swallow if suggested by him, to look for any signs of obstruction. Other work up may include endoscopy or Manometery or pressure tests inside food pipe may be needed in some cases. You can start by using antacids like omeperazole or pantoprazole before meals for symptomatic relief. Using motility agents isn't indicated yet until the cause isn't known.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
