Brief Answer:
Specialist opinion and tissue diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

We have a great facility that you can post a good quality photographs and we can help you more.

Warts are growths which have an appearance of a cauliflower. Does the bump look like so?

The best way is to see a Dermatologist to make sure what is the correct diagnosis and he would then apply the correct medicines.

Since a lump on a shaft can be anything from a wart to something serious, so it is best to get a proper diagnosis from a Specialist. If it is removed surgically, we can get a tissue diagnosis and rule out cancer.

This is in consideration of you age of 47 years. Warts are rare on the shaft unless transmitted sexually. ( if you had such an incident).
