What Causes Rashes On Hands And Thighs Taking Glidess Birth Control Pill?

Question: Hi, I've switched after 1 month from using the Nuva ring to the Glidess birth control pill. I'm now 2 weeks into the Glidess and I'm experiencing rashes on my hands that are clear mini postules and dry skin on my inner thighs. I was wondering if it is a reaction from progesterone imbalance from the nuva ring from taking it out, or a reaction from the new Glidess birth control pills which are estrogen based? Thank you!

Brief Answer: Rare to have allergic reaction Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks you for the query. Usually hormonal contraceptive methods can present with side effects like menstrual irregularities, weight changes etc. But allergic reactions are rare with these methods. If at all allergic reaction occurs, that will present as a serious reaction. And usually pustules are not presenting features in these type of reactions. So, your symptoms may not be due to contraceptive pills or nuva ring. That could be due to some dermatological problem. If the symptoms persists, consult gynecologist once, get examined and go for coagulation profile. Possibly this will help in ruling out the doubt regarding side effects of hormonal pills. Then you can go for symptomatic treatment. Hope I have answered your query. I will be available to answer followup queries. If you are satisfied with the answer, please give your review at the end of the discussion. Take care.
