Brief Answer: Apply warm compress. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. The painful cut on the outer labia can be due to vigorous intercourse/ rubbing during masturbation or dermatitis. I would suggest you to keep the area clean. Apply warm compresses and apply some topical antiseptics. Also avoid wearing tight fitting clothes and wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and underwear. Wash the area well with an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as Neosporin are also useful. Avoid abrasion and friction, excessive washing or rubbing of the affected area. Take a mild pain killer like ibuprofen for inflammation and pain. In case the cut does not improve or there is a considerable swelling then do consult your gynecologist for oral antibiotics. Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have. Wishing you good health. Regards. Dr. Rakhi Tayal. Brief Answer: Infection is usually associated with discharge. Detailed Answer: Hello. Thanks for writing again. The extreme pain could be due to stretching and swelling of the area. Infection is more likely if there is any discharge in the area. Doing a warm compress in the area should reduce the pain and swelling. However a direct examination is the only way to find out the extent of lesion and infection. Hope my answer is helpful. Do accept my answer in case there are no further queries. Regards.
