Brief Answer:
Better to evaluate further.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, welcome to HCM forum.
Thanks for posting to us.

I have gone through your query in detail and understand your concern.

If there is persisting pain and irritation even after 8 days of antibiotics,we have to look for any underlying complications like tonsillar or peri tonsillar abscess that can prevent complete recovery. If such complications are ruled out, we can manage the condition with alternate antibiotics like azithromycin, levofloxacin etc for few more days.

So it will be fine if you can see an ENT specialist for further evaluation.

Meanwhile Kindly avoid cold drinks and ice creams. Also do warm saline gargles 6-8 times a day.
You can take simple analgesics like acetaminophen or ibuprofen if needed.

Hope this answer will help.

Wishing for a faster recovery.
Thank you.

Dear Sir,

Can I buy azithromycin? please let me know when and how many should I take? I will go to see EFT if this will not cured by azithromycin.

Thanks a lot.

Brief Answer:
azithromycin needs a prescription

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,

Sorry to say that azithromycin need a prescription and cannot be suggested online without a direct consultation.
Usually we give 500 mg once daily for 3-5 days.
In my opinion, it is better to get it examined before proceeding as delay in definitive treatment can make the situation still worse, and antibiotics can not be taken over the counter.

Hope you can understand the situation.
Wishing for a faster cure.
Thank you.
